Shellac has been through the centuries a important or the most important material in restoration process. Growing up with a master french polisher I never realized at that early age that shellac was that important, only to realize it later. French Polishing has been a part of our family for 2 generations; we spent most of our childhoods on old yachts, liners and our workshop as our parents and their workers French polished every square inch into shining perfection, that was 50 years ago. Although people change, the technique has not, it has remained the same for the last 6000 years, we still use the same techniques that were used by the masters all those years using natural pigments making Shellac one of the few Non Carcinogenic and Non Toxic high gloss finishes. This safe nature makes Shellac ideal for objects that we handle every day such as:
